QUESTIONS
ALEXA WAYNE (AW): When did you find out you would want to write novels?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: It was never my intention to become a writer. I wrote I am Cancer Free to tell persons in a similar position that cancer is a battle you have to fight and win. The response I received from buyers and readers gave me encouragement to write more books.
I am Cancer Free was the winner of Mc Grath House Indie Book Awards in the category Non-Fiction in September 2016 and won an award from Readers Favorite International Book Awards 2018 in the category Health and Fitness.
AW: You mentioned your work, all set in science-fiction or cyborg settings, would you let our readers know why you are attracted to that genre?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: I am a multi-genre writer and suddenly got an idea for a science fiction series when I read about the zika virus. It was set in the year 2036 and based on events that took place 20 years before. After writing the first three books, Zeeka and the Zombies, Zeeka’s Child, and Zeeka Returns I combined them into one book named Revenge of Zeeka: Horror Trilogy.
Revenge of Zeeka: Horror Trilogy received a five-star review from Readers Favorite. I thought I was done with the series, but Zeeka haunted me in my dreams. I had the same dream for almost a month.
He insisted that I write the fourth book, Zeeka’s Ghost because he said that I did not tell the full story.
“What do you mean by the full story?” I asked him.
He replied, “Start writing and I will tell you what to write.”
I said, “But you are dead. You committed suicide. How can you tell me what to write?”
“Do you believe in ghosts?” he asked.
I wrote Zeeka’s Ghost, the fourth book, which was unplanned and believe it or not, Zeeka told me what to write.
I was still not finished with the series. He returned in my dreams and told me to write the fifth book, Resurrection to reveal the true identity of Zombie Number Nine. I was guided by him to do that book as well.
You must think that I am crazy, but I believe all writers experience something similar.
I combined all five stories into one book named Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka. The book won an award in Readers Favorite International Awards 2018.
AW: When writing about sci-fi, do you do research and if so, how far do you go with your research?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: Yes. When I wrote the Zeeka stories I researched for high-tech weapons, robots, programmable zombies, and other technology in the year 2036 but found nothing. My eight-year-old grandson came up with names for weapons and technological equipment and I am very proud of him. Reviewers commented positively on the shrinkenator, zombies, robots, and weapons.
AW: What is most important to you when writing your novels?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: I write with the readers in mind. I want my readers to experience every emotion expressed by my characters such as love, joy, rage, terror, disappointment, and sorrow.
AW: Which authors influenced your writing in science-fiction?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: I cannot name a science fiction author because I never read any science fiction books that interested me. I can name movies that enthralled me like Star Wars, Star Trek, Back to the Future, T-Rex, Ex Machina, and many more.
AW: Which of your novels is your favorite and why is it your favorite?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka is definitely my favourite novel. It was my first try at science fiction and it was a great success. It received a five-star review from Readers Favorite soon after I published it, and won several awards as follows:
1. Award winner in the Category Young Adult Thriller in Readers Favorite International Awards 2018.
2. Winner of the gold award in the category science fiction in Emagazine Readers' Choice Awards 2018.
3. Top ten finalist in the Author Academy Global Awards 2018.
4.Winner in Science Fiction in SIBA Awards 2017.
AW: Do you believe in alien visiting our world, by that I mean in abduction or close encounters of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th kind?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: No. I do not believe in aliens although I may write about them. I regard them as fiction.
AW: What made you decide to be self-published?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: I chose self-publishing as I wanted the freedom to revise my books or covers whenever I want without having to wait on a publisher to do so.
AW: What sets you apart from other science-fiction and cyborg authors?
BRENDA MOHAMMED: I don’t consider myself a famous science fiction writer. However, the book, Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka did win awards from Readers Favorite and other entities. Reviewers have emphasized its originality, so it is worth reading.
AW: What can readers look forward to from Brenda Mohammed in 2019?
BRENDA MOHAMMED:
I founded a Facebook Literary Forum called How to Write for Success in February 2017. In October 2018 I affiliated it to another Facebook Group called Motivational Strips. Both groups have the same mission of Writers’ Empowerment. Because of that association, I have developed a passion for poetry.
The forum has initiated three Poetry Anthologies which topped the charts on Amazon and all made Amazon bestseller No 1 in Poetries and anthologies.
Whether or not I will write another science fiction book only time will tell.
AW: Is there any website or social media where people can reach or follow you?
This concludes our interview. Thank you so very much for your time. We cannot wait to read your answers! I will contact you when your article will be published on our website and of course, feel free, when the time comes to share it and use it as you please. 
Also, if there is anything else you would like to add, please feel free to do so. If you feel like there is a question that you would’ve liked to answer, add it and it will be part of the final interview on the website.
Thank you for your time and answers. We are honored to have you on our website and we hope you had a wonderful time answering our questions.
Kind regards,

Author Brenda Mohammed discloses why she wrote Zeeka Chronicles

Today I will share with you why I wrote Zeeka Chronicles. I stated this in a recent interview about the book.
Zeeka Chronicles is about a vengeful man who misuses science in the year 2036 to create havoc in a small exotic island named Gosh. He is angry for two reasons. After his former lover jilted him, he married another on the rebound. His wife contracted the zika virus when she was pregnant. His child was born deformed as a result, and she died. He blamed the hospital for her death and his deformed child. This vengeful man kidnapped the son of his former lover and the story evolves thereafter.
The story is set in the year 2036 when there is a great advancement in medical and information technology. It is a high-tech world.
Skillful robots are used as home helpers, and police use high tech weaponry, electric cars, and smartphones. The hospitals are well equipped with state of the art equipment and doctors and scientists are making significant breakthroughs and inventing cures for patients with critical illnesses.
Yet, in this high-tech world, the minds of some human beings remain evil.
Can Mankind ever achieve a sinless state? Will human beings forever continue to foster greed, malice, anger, jealousy, and the desire to control and take revenge?
I wrote this book to highlight the fact that material things can never improve the minds of some individuals.
Today, in spite of all the new and advanced developments, crime has increased to unstoppable levels. What will change humanity?
The benefits to readers are the underlying lessons to be learned from the content, especially in light of the situation the world is experiencing today with CoVid 19.
Zeeka Chronicles: Revenge of Zeeka was an award winner in the Category Young Adult Thriller in Readers Favorite International Awards 2018, winner in Science Fiction in SIBA Awards 2017, winner of the gold award in the category science fiction in Connections Emagazine Readers' Choice Awards 2018, and winner in the top ten finalists for science-fiction in the Author Academy Global Awards 2018.

Love Springs Freely from the Heart by Author Brenda Mohammed

LOVE SPRINGS FREELY FROM THE HEART

Love isn’t possession or a transaction with another.
Love isn’t lusting after an “image” or wanting someone to smother.
When you fall in love you want to share both love and pain.
Love springs freely from the heart and is not looking for gain.

Love is a precious gift from the sincerest of hearts.
Love is being with someone for what they are, both playing their parts.
Being with that cool person that accepts your weirdness
And both totally being yourselves in all fairness.

Love is not a relationship; it’s more a natural state of your being.
Giving freedom and space to each other and not being demeaning.
Love is unconditional and forgiving because you are LOVE.
When loving feelings flow they bring blessings from above.

The Organ of Love by Author Brenda Mohammed

THE ORGAN OF LOVE.

The heart is a fragile organ situated within the chest cavity.
It helps supply blood and oxygen to all parts of the body.
It is divided into two halves by a partition or septum.
And surrounded by a fluid-filled sac called the pericardium.
.
It’s called the heart because It’s the center of our circulation.
We refer to the heart when one talks about one’s emotion.
The word “heart” itself means the center or source.
That’s why humans associate love with the heart of course.

The state of excitement connected to love and attraction,
Is felt first and foremost in the heart, that tender organ.
The rapid heartbeats we experience with someone we love
Blood rushes through the veins and you think you’ve fallen in love.

Emotions of love, fear, grief, exciting news all affect the heart.
When you lose someone dear, you feel it tears your heart apart.
We know exciting news makes the heart bubble with joy.
No one should play with the precious heart as if it is a toy.

Why when love is lost one feels blisters on the heart?
Why does the heart hurt when from a loved one you’re apart?
Why does one feel the heart bursting when someone close dies?
The heart is at the very core of our body and never lies.

Founder of How to Write for Success Brenda Mohammed is interviewed by Author Mala Naidoo

In my first post on the prolific and inspirational Trinidadian poet Brenda Mohammed, we got a glimpse into her writing journey.
Brenda is a prolific writer of 25 books and her passion and dedication for Literature is phenomenal.
Today we chat with Brenda Mohammed to catch up with her on her rapidly growing and expanding writing life and to get the scoop on her latest writing venture.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a former Bank Manager of a leading bank in Trinidad and Tobago. Later in life, I moved into the Insurance field and excelled there also. I always loved dealing with finance, and never dreamed that I would fall in love with Literature.

When did you start writing?
Actually, I was always a very good writer in my school days and won the top English Language prize when I graduated from High school at sixteen years of age.
When I joined the bank my superiors at the bank were always impressed with my ability to learn quickly, my efficiency in every department I was assigned, and also my writing skills.
When I was promoted to the job of Assistant Manager Credit I had to prepare detailed financial proposals for the Manager’s signature to be sent to the bank’s Head Office for approval. The Manager rarely changed a word, and the Bank’s Head Office always approved the proposals without any questions.
The Banking term for that was “clean sanctions,” something other Managers wished they could achieve. Later on, when I was appointed as Manager I continued with that skill and moved on to Senior Managerial positions. Yet, writing books never crossed my mind and I moved into Insurance where I also excelled, qualifying for membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, The Premier Association for Financial Professionals, {the name pertains to sales achieved and not earnings}, until I was struck by cancer and told by my doctor in Trinidad that she could do nothing for me.
To make a long story short, I survived and wrote the book, I am Cancer Free, which became a bestseller, and gave me the encouragement to write twenty-four more books.

You wrote twenty-five books. Can you tell us the genre of those books?
I write both fiction and non-fiction. The genres are Memoirs, Romance, Mystery, Poetry, Children, Science Fiction, and Self Help.

Tell us something about your multi-award winning book Zeeka Chronicles.

The benefits to readers are the underlying lessons to be learned from the content, especially in light of the situation the world is experiencing today with CoVid 19.

Who are the primary readers of your books?
My books are for both mature audiences and young adults and the children's books are of course for children.

What are you working on now?
I am working on the third story in a Mystery series – Barry Holmes Mysteries
The first story in the series – The Gift of Love,  made it to Best Seller No 1 in all three categories - one-hour mystery thriller, private investigations, and kidnapping fiction.

“What happened to Mary Loo” has elements of romance, mystery, and suspense. It will be a short story and should be ready for publishing by the end of May.
The book cover was designed by Mary L Schmidt.

Can you leave us with a value quote on Writing?
Writing is a mysterious journey of thoughts that can unravel the strangest imaginary plots. Writing for me was exploring a new milestone.

What are your social accounts if people want to connect with you?
I am on Linked In, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook, where I have nine author pages for each genre in which I write, and a personal page.
They are - Poetry to Enlighten, Zeeka Stories, Banker turns Writer, Romance Stories, Children’s Corner, Barry Holmes Mysteries, Brenda’s Video trailers, Fascinating Memoirs, and Brenda’s Publications.
Of course, I am also available as Founder of How to Write for Success Literary Forum, and as Regional Director, Operations in Motivational Strips, the world’s most active writers Forum.

THE LOCKDOWN BROUGHT BLESSINGS

The lockdown certainly has its benefits. My book ZEEKA CHRONICLES has gathered 132 reviews from across the world - United States. The United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and India.
This is one of my award-winning books.
Thank you Florabelle Lutchman for this five-star review:
"BOOK REVIEW –ZEEKA CHRONICLES written by BRENDA MOHAMMED

Do you like futuristic views of life? Well, this book “Zeeka Chronicles” written by Mrs. Brenda Mohammed, a multi-genre author, is just the book to read. It has five connected stories and will take you into the future- 2036 to be exact, where you will read about Zeeka and the Zombies, Zeeka’s Child, Zeeka Returns, Zeeka’s Ghost and Resurrection.
This multi-layered tale is set on a small island called Gosh, a little scenic island off the coast of South America, and it became the brainchild of the author when the disease Zika was ravaging the Caribbean Islands.
Brenda Mohammed uses her everyday experiences and ideas to formulate plots for each story. She skillfully interweaves the characters of each story, bringing to the narratives interest, amazement, and excitement.
If you are scared of reading about zombies, there is no need to be. The zombies are just short people with small heads who created some havoc on the island of Gosh during the Carnival festival.
The protagonist is a doctor, Dr. Stephen Sharpe, a scientist, who had an obsession over finding a cure for the debilitating disease caused by the Anopheles Mosquito.
Circumstances in this book are somewhat similar to what is happening today with Covid19. In the book, babies were born with small heads, and if they died their bodies were not given to the parents for burial. Funerals could not be held. Maybe Mrs. Brenda Mohammed had a glimpse into the future!!!!
A cure for this disease was being sought by over twenty doctors in the hospital but read on.
In the second story, “Zeeka’s Child”, we read about the child that Zeeka, the antagonist had. You will be stunned to know who it was.
“Zeeka Returns” is the third story that tells of Zeeka’s return from exile and the thrilling events that follow.
“Zeeka’s Ghost” is the fourth episode, but that I cannot give away. You must read the book to find out.
“Resurrection” is the fifth story, and you will be amazed at Brenda’s imagination for a future world. Over twenty doctors in the hospital were seeking a cure for the disease. Dr. Stephen Sharpe led the team and discovered that cure. I wish a scientist will invent a cure for Covid 19, like the one Brenda invented for the persons who grew up deformed because of the Zika virus.
The author has written twenty-five books to date and I am sure each of them is worth reading as Zeeka Chronicles.
If you want to fill your world with excitement at this time of lockdown, please pick up this book. You will not regret it. You may not want to put it down.
Zeeka Chronicles is available at Amazon stores worldwide. Get it at this Universal link.

In time and in space!

Let me honor this woman!
Who deserves a Nobel Prize for Literature!
Because she made poetry
A remedy for some!
And therapy for others!
It has allowed poetry to cross borders!
And to travel the world! Thanks to her collection of poems!
She uses poetry as therapy!
To save human lives!
She uses poetry as a peacemaker!
To reconcile couples!
She uses poetry as a language!
To talk to nature!
She uses poetry as justice!
To condemn evil!
She uses poetry as a gift!
To do good!
She uses poetry as a gospel!
To win souls!
She uses poetry as a weapon!
To warn the infamous! She uses poetry like a flame!
To rekindle souls!
She uses poetry like a song!
To wake up those who sleep!
She uses poetry as fiction!
To give voice to the abstract!
She uses poetry as a link!
To bring together the poets of the world!
She uses poetry as an experience!
To tell us about her!
She uses poetry as a prophecy!
To predict the future!
She uses poetry as a passion!
To teach others the rules!
She uses poetry as a refuge!
To relieve the afflicted!
She uses poetry like a wind!
Who blows where it wants!
She uses poetry like an umbrella!
To protect women from the rain of violence!
Her poetry rhymes with emotion!
And when you read her poems you become a fan!
This is why I find real pleasure!
To read her poems as they inspire me!
Her works will remain forever
Engraved in our memories!
Because poetry has made her immortal.
