"Beauty of Poetry!!

What an apt name the Author, Brenda Mohammed, gave to this book, her sixtieth!!!

The book is filled with exceptionally written poems that come straight from the heart.

They are of different genres and all are artistically written, dealing with many of her personal feelings and experiences.

The poet says, ”Poetry is in my thoughts and my dreams.”

She writes because of her intense love for poetry. A reader could easily discern such from reading each poem. Once you start you can never put the book down.

She writes about Love saying as we all know, “Love is the greatest virtue of all.” There are a few other poems on Love. Then she goes on to write of her travels to London, Venice, Rome, and numerous other places she visited with family.

What is most striking about this “Beauty” however, are the religious poems contained in the book - Jesus cleansing the temple, the unconditional love God has for us-” God first loved us and wants us to love Him too.”

If you do not as yet know Christ read “Who is Jesus Christ?” The Lenten Season and Holy Week are also specifically dealt with.

Family Values and poems on cancer appeal to the reader. The Author is a cancer survivor and she writes, “As a cancer survivor for eighteen years, it breaks my heart,

When close relatives and friends from this disease depart.”

SOLAR ECLIPSES AND BIBLICAL SYMBOLISM

Solar eclipses are natural astronomical events that occur regularly.

They are spiritual reminders of our Creator’s power and creativity.

In an eclipse, the alignment of the sun, moon, and earth in the sky,

Reflects the intricate order of the cosmos that God has designed.

Solar eclipses help us experience a powerful sense of awe.

As we marvel at the glorious sight we are drawn closer to God.

The life-giving light and warmth of the sun are symbols of God’s love.

When the sun is eclipsed by the moon, our focus turns to God above.

The eclipse represents the contrast between spiritual light and darkness.

Solar eclipses can evoke a sense of renewal and spiritual awareness.

Celestial disturbances are associated with The Day of the Lord.

These cosmic signs serve as warnings to get right with God.

Eclipses are significant events that direct our attention to our Creator.

Psalm 19:1 points to the wondrous work and reality of our Maker.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”

SOLAR ECLIPSE 2024

 

TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE

When the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth,

It completely blocks the brightness of the Sun’s glow.

The sky will darken as if it were night and become dusky.

The Sun will reveal its corona along the path of totality.

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will occur.

It will cross North America, passing over Mexico,

Visible along a narrow track starting in Texas.

In 48 U.S. states, people will see a partial eclipse.

*

The moon’s face is 400 times smaller than the sun’s face.

But every few years, it covers the sun’s surface.

There must be an exact distance between the moon and the sun.

The eclipse is an opportunity to celebrate God’s creation.

The majestic alignment of these celestial bodies,

Shows that our creator God loves beauty and patterns of regularity.

This wondrous phenomenon lasts about five minutes only.

Solar viewing glasses are necessary for viewing it safely.

CELEBRATING WORLD POETRY DAY

          Poetry has been around since ancient Biblical times.

  King David, Moses, and King Solomon wrote the

  Psalms.

  Poets share ideas, express emotions, and create

  imagery.

  And proudly present them to readers in beautiful poetry.

   With poetry, we can write about anything we feel.

   True things, and even things unreal.                               

   Poetry can take us into an enchanted world.

   A land of dreams, reality, hope, and places untold.

   Poetry can be used to express something artistically.

  The use of rhyme and rhythm contributes magically.

  Thoughts and ideas can be arranged in stanzas,

  Making the language simple to connect with readers.

  *

  Poetry is long-lived, and an important part of art and

  culture.

  Blank verse, rhymed, free verse, narrative, and Tanka,

  Pastoral, sonnet, elegies, odes, limericks, epics, and

  haiku.

  Even Soliloquy, villanelle, lyrical, ballad, and Gogyohka

  too.

   When I visited Shakespeare’s hometown, I grew to love

   Poetry.

   Like a stranger standing at my door, it waited to greet

   me.

   It brought out the best in me and made me happy.

MAS EXHIBITION AT STOLLMEYER'S CASTLE TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

On 26^th February 2024, the formal opening of an exhibition to commemorate the 50^th anniversary to celebrate Peter Minshall’s revelatory 1974 Carnival presentation, “From the Land of the Humming Bird,” was held.

The exhibition was co-curated by Kathryn Chan and Austin Fido, in association with the Minshall Mas Foundation, the Frank and Myrtle Cleghorn Foundation, which provided seed financing, and the partnership of Castle Killarney (Stollmeyer’s Castle).

Frank and Myrtle Cleghorn are the deceased parents of Trinidad-born Dr. Farley Cleghorn, an infectious disease specialist living in Washington, and who has been involved in great humanitarian work.

Dr. Cleghorn gave an eloquent and touching speech about why he and his family supported the exhibition financially.

Hundreds were in attendance.

Admission was free, and sumptuous refreshments were served.

The organizers deserving of mention for their kind support of the project were the National Carnival Commission, the Carnival Institute, the National Archives, Francis Lau Construction Company Ltd, Jimmy Aboud and Company Ltd, The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago, Angostura Ltd, and Business Supply Group Ltd.
