SAVING LIVES ON WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY

SAVING LIVES ON WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY

A SPARK OF HOPE is a series of three books of poems to prevent suicide.
The poems within A Spark of Hope are therapeutic, and some have already saved lives.
This treasury of poems is intended to ignite a Spark of Hope in someone who has lost the will to live.
A Spark of Hope is meant to give hope where there is none.
The aim of the series is to encourage us to appreciate and value life as a precious gift.
We can change the things we wish and accept the ones we cannot change.
The Series is a collection of hopeful poems, by international poets, both acclaimed and some lesser-known.
These poems call us to the plight of the downtrodden, and victims without hope.
They force us to reach deep down within ourselves and retrieve a spark of hope to share, and bring a bit of comfort to those who need it most.
Sometimes, all it takes is a spark of hope.

A SPARK OF HOPE IS AMAZON BESTSELLER NO 1 in POETRIES AND ANTHOLOGIES

A SPARK OF HOPE  VOLUME II was published on 11th February 2020 and on 21st February it topped the charts on Amazon to become bestseller No 1 in Poetry and Anthologies.
64 bestselling authors participated in this project aimed at preventing persons from committing suicide.
Volume 1 was published in February 2019 and it was also bestseller No 1 on Amazon in the category Poetry and Anthologies.

The Administration of Motivational Strips Global Forum, the most active writers'forum is very pleased with this achievement and congratulates the 64 authors who participated.
The first person to give a review of the book was Sarika Harikumar Shyam.
This is what she said :

A humble work for a noble cause, that is how I would describe this anthology, SPARK OF HOPE, VOLUME II, published by Brenda Mohammed and assisted by Narendra Rajkumar, Farhana Sait, Destiny Light Speaks and 64 contributing poets of the world.
Suicide, though considered the deed of a weak mind, any human can find himself/herself prone to such a thought at some point in his/her life. We may feel trapped, unable to control the circumstances or the perceived outcome, scared to face life, etc. in such a mental state and sometimes a simple solace from someone might be enough to ward off the negative thoughts. This book serves just as that someone.64 poems by 64 poets from around the world written with the sole intention of uplifting depressed and weak minds and saving lives. Yes, and that’s why I mentioned earlier, a humble work for a noble cause!
Shiju H. Pallithazheth, founder of Motivational Strips has given foreword along with his wonderful write ‘God’s Last Letter’. Brenda Mohammed’s poem, ‘You are perfect just as you are’ for the anthology is a short and sweet consoling dose for the intended readers. Narendra Rajkumar and Farhana Sait have also inked their heart out to reach to the depressed souls apart from being the main team behind this amazing collection.
All the poets have done justice to the topic of consideration, ‘Prevention of suicide and saving lives’ and the anthology has come out as a brilliant work. I would like to name a few poems from the collection like, When by John Fingleton, Depression by Timothy Payton, Gift Divine by Arvind Sharma, Courage by Curtis Raynard, Loaded Thoughts by Sabrina Young, True Story by Noe Basurto, Heal the Soul by Debabrata Mohanty, Reach Out by Sarah Northwood, Suicide Sabotage by Jyotirmaya Thakur, It’s not the end of the road b Renette Dsouza, So Much to Live for by Rosie Caristea and Say No to Suicide by Sahjahan Ali Ahmed.
Apart from the poems, there is a brilliant article by Dr. Amb. Prof. Joseph Spence Sr.Sr, which I recommend as a must-read.
I am happy to be a part of this anthology (Suicide; A Soul’s Cry, is the name of the poem I have contributed) and this is the first time a poem of mine got published and hence this book is very special to me. I express my sincere gratitude to Brenda and the team for giving me this opportunity to be a part of this noble cause.

A SPARK OF HOPE {VOLUME TWO] bringing hope to Potential Suicide Victims.

A SPARK OF HOPE: AN ANTHOLOGY FOR SAVING LIVES Volume I, was published on February 2nd, 2019. It was a joint effort by Facebook Groups How to Write for Success, Motivational Strips, and other affiliated groups. All the forums have as their mission SUICIDE PREVENTION.
The project was initiated by a very caring author and Administrator of How to Write for Success, Narendra Rajkumar from Trinidad and Tobago.
Authors Destinyy Lightt Speakss of India, Sabrina Young from the USA, and Poetess Farhana Sait of India were willing and ready to assist Narendra in making his idea a reality to produce this Anthology.
When they approached me to use the Group How to Write for Success, which I founded, to attract writers to contribute poems for this venture I readily agreed.

We obtained the blessings of Shiju H. Pallithazheth, the Founder of Motivational Strips and Chancellor of Motivational Strips Academy of Literary Excellence and Wisdom., and he took the time to contribute to this endeavor.

When I read that the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimated that each year approximately one million people die from suicide, which represents a global mortality rate of 16 people per 100,000 or one death every 40 seconds, and it is predicted that by 2020 the rate of death will increase to one every 20 seconds, I said we must use our literary skills to prevent this.

It was the hope and prayer of writers of Motivational Strips, How to Write for Success, and affiliated Groups, that the poems would rekindle the will to live and enjoy life regardless of the challenges potential suicide victims would have encountered.
If our writings could help to save persons from taking their own lives, we would feel indeed gratified.

However, the publisher of the original book. Dr. Julia Antoine, God rest her soul, passed away two months after publishing it.
We tried to retrieve it from her Author Page where she published it, but Amazon did not allow it, and we had no choice but to republish with a new cover.

Because of the many reports we received stating that the book did indeed save many lives, we established a new group 'Poems for Suicide Prevention'  to collect more poems to publish Volume 2 of the book.
A targeted publishing date of April 2020 has been set.

We do not intend to stop in our efforts to prevent suicide.
Every one of us will encounter challenges in our lives that may appear insurmountable.
You will be stronger and better for having faced challenges head-on and persevered.

.When life seems a puzzle and you feel let down,

Tried your best but cannot turn your life around.

You feel life is not worthwhile and you want to exit.

It’s when things look worst you should not quit.

Life is filled with many twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns.

Achievement of your goals may be closer than you think.

Control your emotions and don’t fall off the brink.

We extend hearty congratulations to all authors who are supporting this venture, the hard-working team who are making it possible, and to all other Admin members who are working behind the scenes to promote the project wholeheartedly, and whose names are not mentioned here.
