EDUCATOR HONOURED BY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

 



In an impressive church service held by the Presbyterian Church of Trinidad and Tobago, led by Rev. Stephen Harripersad, at the Susamachar Presbyterian Church on 30th June 2024, Dr. Andrew Moonir Khan was honoured posthumously, along with several other church stalwarts.
Dr. Andrew Moonir Khan was one of the pioneers of Education in Trinidad and Tobago.
He was an Educator who led by example and made numerous and outstanding contributions to church and country.
He became the first Presiding Elder in the Presbyterian Church in Trinidad and Tobago and obtained a PhD in Education from Florida Christian State University.
Dr. Khan served in all courts of the church until his passing in 1975.
Sir Isaac Hyatali T.C. K.B., former Chief Justice of Trinidad and Tobago, [now deceased], who wrote the foreword for his Memoirs published by his daughter, Brenda Mohammed a former bank manager, remarked, “He was one of the greatest intellectuals in this society.”
The Presbyterian Teachers’ Association and Board of Men had also honoured him with gold medals posthumously for faithful service to the Presbyterian Church for several years.
Dr. Khan is the father of ten children who all excelled in their careers.
They are Gilbert, Victor, Myrtle, Addison, Sybil, Rosabelle, Florabelle, Brenda, Jamella, and Arabella.
Two of them, Judge Addison M. Khan, and Florabelle Lutchman, a Retired School Principal, followed in his footsteps and served as elders in the Marabella Presbyterian Church.
Florabelle Lutchman collected the award from PCTT on his behalf on 30th June 2024.
