LET'S CELEBRATE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD

LET'S CELEBRATE CHILDREN OF THE WORLD

World Children’s Day was first established in 1954 as Universal Children's Day and is celebrated on 20 November each year to promote international togetherness, and awareness among children worldwide, and to improve children's welfare.

November 20th is an important date as it is the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. It is also the date in 1989 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Since 1990, World Children's Day also marks the anniversary of the date that the UN General Assembly adopted both the Declaration and the Convention on Children's Rights.

Mothers and fathers, teachers, nurses and doctors, government leaders and civil society activists, religious and community elders, corporate moguls and media professionals, as well as young people and children themselves, can play an important part in making World Children's Day relevant for their societies, communities, and nations.

World Children's Day offers each of us an inspirational entry point to advocate, promote and celebrate children's rights, translating into dialogues and actions that will build a better world for children.

On Universal Children's Day, I share three books I have written for children.

The Child Poet: A Poetic Galaxy for Children.

A USEFUL TOOL FOR PARENTS AND CHILDREN.
THE CHILD POET: A POETIC GALAXY FOR CHILDREN written by multi-award-winning author BRENDA MOHAMMED, is the kind of book that any parent would treasure to help offspring become creative.
The poet creates no borders to capture the panoramic potential of a child's vision.
When you look at the title, the book speaks for itself,
There are beautiful illustrations inside.
The author has written poems about nature, the galaxy, books, and family life in simplified forms so that children can capture the meanings easily.
This is an ideal gift book that could derive productive results for nurturing children.
ADVENTURES OF SQUEAKY DOO.
ADVENTURES OF SQUEAKY DOO, a short story collection, teaches children Geography, Cultures, and love for pets. The book is about the travel adventures of a girl named Marge and her pet, Squeaky Doo :
1. Squeaky Doo on the Beach - Squeaky Doo has a scary adventure on the beach. You will want to keep on reading to see how it all ends.
2. Squeaky Doo in California - Visit the National History Museum in Los Angeles with Marge and Squeaky Doo. You will be thrilled.
3. Squeaky Doo in Orlando - Ever been to Holy Land in Orlando? Marge and Squeaky Doo will take you there.
4. Squeaky Doo goes on a Cruise - Sail aboard a cruise ship with Marge and Squeaky Doo. Take part in the fun.
Squeaky Doo in Trinidad- Experience an amazing adventure in the beautiful Caribbean island of Trinidad with Marge and Squeaky Doo.
A Reviewer said: "As seen through the wide-open eyes of an adorable teddy bear, these stories are of Squeaky Doo’s adventures on the beach, in California, in Orlando, on a Royal Caribbean cruise, and on the sunny island of Trinidad.
This teddy bear loves to travel with the family and the grandparents.
An extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and their friends join in the fun-filled activities and celebrations.
A common theme is Squeaky Doo getting lost or left behind –on the beach, at the wedding, at a store in the mall, on the cruise ship, or getting snatched by a thief.
Not to worry though…as Squeaky Doo somehow gets to go on yet another adventure."
SHE CRIED FOR ME: DOGS AND ELEPHANTS.
This delightful book for children contains three stories:
1. She Cried for me: Autobiography of a dog who was rescued.
2. Julie and the Elephant Mamba.
3. Brownie and the Hunter.
Within the book are Sample Chapters from other children's books.
She Cried for Me is a heart-wrenching story for pet and dog lovers.
A young dog becomes tired of being underfed and abused. Scared of her owner's threat to kill her, she runs away.
Dog catchers are on her trail. The owner of a dog sanctuary spots her. Will she be rescued? Can she find a loving home with a loving family?
In Julie and the Elephant, Julie wants to join the circus for one reason - to play with Elephant Mamba.
Will her Mom allow her to join?
In the third story, Brownie and the Hunter, a dog named Brownie disappeared from a loving home.
Was she ever found?
Read the book to find out.
